By day, Leslie Stermetz is an executive of an Elmhurst company with holdings valued at more than $2 billion.
But underneath her business attire beats the heart of a 16-year-old music fan.
Not since '70s teen idol David Cassidy has she felt like this.
True, she was a big fan of Michael Jackson back in the day and still has her collection of 45s. Later, 'I did the Rod Stewart bit,' she says. 'But nobody really caught my eye that I would have to have every album.'
Until Adam Lambert.
The pop singer/songwriter wound up as the runner-up in Season 8 of Fox TV's 'American Idol,' but he's the one who rocketed to stardom.
Stermetz wasn't even following the show, but a friend told her to check out this Idol contestant who was 'phenomenal.' That night, Lambert sang Michael Jackson's 'Black or White.'
'One look and one note out of his mouth,' she says, 'and I haven't stopped listening to him since.'
A year later, she has more than 500 photos of Lambert on her laptop - pictures she took herself at concerts from Maine to California. She'll fly to Vegas later this month for a concert at Mandalay Bay, then catch him again as Lambert's Glam Nation tour stops in Rockford, St. Louis and Tunica, Mississippi.
Framed T-shirts that the singer autographed hang on the landing in her Addison condominium next to a poster of Lambert's Rolling Stone cover.
She has multiple copies of his debut CD, 'For Your Entertainment,' including U.K. and Japanese versions. One CD is autographed; she bought it on eBay, with the proceeds going to Lambert's favorite charity.
She can look at a photo and know what he's singing just by which glittery outfit he's wearing. She can name a song after just the first couple of notes. She follows him on the Web, Facebook and Twitter.
'And yes,' Stermetz says, laughing, 'my family thinks I'm crazy.'
Well, only a little. Stermetz's nephew is also a fan, and her sister and niece are going to Vegas with her.

How does a successful business woman wind up following a pop star from city to city? 'He is definitely a brilliant, creative artist,' Stermetz says. 'And he is absolutely charming when you meet him in person.'
But mostly, it's the voice. She never gets tired of listening to him, 'because I love his voice so much.'
The 'American Idol' runner-up may have made her feel like she's 16 again, but there are definite advantages to fiftysomething fandom.
Stermetz works for The Duchossois Group in Elmhurst; the job gives her five weeks vacation and the wherewithal to travel.
'This summer, my vacations are planned around seeing Adam,' she said.
She usually takes a family member or friend with her, but also has struck up friendships with other Lambert fans like herself who travel from concert to concert. 'We've organized dinners and get-togethers,' she said.
For someone who was basically unheard of two years ago, the 28-year-old Lambert has quickly developed a diverse, devoted fan base.

'I've seen 8- and 10-year-olds at concerts with their parents,' Stermetz said. 'At one concert in California, there was an 89-year-old woman from Wisconsin who said she'd like to be able to meet him before she dies. His fans got together and flew her out there.'
Stermetz is no teenager swooning over a pop star, but an adult who appreciates the extra spark her musical obsession adds to her life. She made a spur-of-the-moment decision to buy a same-day ticket to a Lambert concert in Indianapolis, drove there after work and had a terrific time.
'The fun part is not being stuck in the same thing day after day,' she said.
Lambert's songs range from edgy rockers to soulful ballads to celebrations of 'life, love, family connections and friends,' Stermetz says. Ann Powers, pop music critic for the Los Angeles Times, writes that the glam rocker is 'reminding America that rock music can be joyful, light-spirited and sublimely silly, just as pop can explore serious subjects beyond the call to hit the dance floor.'
Stermetz got to talk with Lambert a couple of times during his 'American Idol' tour, but those opportunities are going to be fewer as his star shines brighter.
If she gets the chance again, she knows what she will say.

'I would thank him for the 110 percent he gives in every performance,' Stermetz said, 'for the beautiful soul he is and for everything his music makes me feel.'
