On June 30th, macOS 10.9, 10.10 and 10.11 users will automatically be moved to the Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR).

It is quite easy to rollback Firefox update. Just follow these steps to undo Firefox updates and revert to the older version. Uninstall the already installed copy of Firefox installed on your system. In the latest Firefox update, Mozilla added a picture-in-picture mode, allowing users to multitask. They also added a Dark Mode for users that prefer a darker interface. The latest version offers several enhancements such as improved collaboration with mobile devices, efficient bookmark management, new extensions and updates to the address bar. Mozilla released updates for the two stable builds of the organization's Firefox web browser on October 1, 2020. The new versions of the web browser are already available via the web browser's built-in updating system and as a direct download from Mozilla's main website.

While Apple doesn’t have an official policy governing security updates for older macOS releases, their ongoing practice has been to support the most recent three releases (i.e. version N, N-1, and N-2). The last security update applicable to macOS 10.11 was made available nearly 2 years ago in July 2018 (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201222). Unsupported operating systems receive no security updates, have known exploits, and can be dangerous to use, which makes it difficult and less than optimal to maintain Firefox for those versions.

Users do not need to take additional action to receive those updates. On June 30th, these macOS users will automatically be moved to the ESR channel through application update.

In the meantime, we strongly encourage our users to upgrade to mac OS X 10.12 or higher to benefit from the security and privacy updates.

Did you know that there’s a super fast way to do your searches through the address bar? Simply press CTRL and L (command-L on a Mac). It’s just one of our many keyboard shortcuts. Check out the other ways we’ve made it easier to do searches right from the address bar.

• Your top sites right at your fingertips: With a single click in the address bar, you’ve got access to your most visited sites. And if by chance you have that site already opened in another tab but can’t find it, we’ve highlighted a text shortcut next to it (in teal!) so you can easily jump to that tab rather than going through the gazillion tabs you already have open. This also works for any page you’ve searched, and may not realize you’ve already opened it.
